Support Services
Mujeres Unidas provides several ways for its members to come together:

-Weekly support group sessions for women, infected/affected by HIV/AIDS held on Thursday evenings. -Weekly support group sessions for children; Niños Unidos Contra el SIDA (Children United Against AIDS) meets the needs of children who are HIV-impacted meet on Saturday mornings. -Weekly support group sessions for Spanish-speaking men who are living with HIV/AIDS. Amigos Sin Fronteras meets on Monday afternoons. -Monthly support group sessions for families to come together and receive support from other family members of people living with HIV/AIDS. Entre Familia meets on the first Thursday of the month.

Grupos de Apoyo
Mujeres Unidas brinda varias maneras para sus miembros se junten y compartan:

-Semanalmente el grupo de apoyo para mujeres infectadas o afectadas por el VIH/SIDA se reúnen los Jueves por la tarde. -Semanalmente el grupo de apoyo niños; Niños Unidos Contra el SIDA para conocer las necesidades de los niños que son impactados por el VIH. Niños Unidos se reúnen los Sábados por la mañana. -Semanalmente el grupo de apoyo para hombres que hablan español quienes viven con el VIH/SIDA. Amigos Sin Fronteras se reúnen los Lunes después de mediodía. -Mensualmente el grupo de apoyo para familias que vienen juntas y reciben apoyo de otros miembros de las familias que viven con el VIH/SIDA. Entre Familia se reúnen el primer Jueves de cada mes.

Outreach and Education

Las Adelitas Program

This project provides HIV/AIDS Outreach and Prevention/Education services through community presentations. Presenters include members of Mujeres Unidas who have been certified through American Red Cross.

Este proyecto brinda Asistencia y servicios de Educación y Prevención de VIH/SIDA por medio de presentaciones a la comunidad. Los Presentadores son miembros de Mujeres Unidas quienes han sido certificados por La Cruz Roja Americana.

Madrina (Godmother) Project

This project allows experienced members of Mujeres Unidas living with HIV/AIDS who assist newly diagnosed women to learn coping strategies and healthy behaviors. Madrinas provide education and mentorship to those Latinas who face the challenge of learning about their chronic illness. Through this educational experience, the women will learn to make positive life changes and adaptations.

Este proyecto es financiado por Office on Women’s Health, Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), permite a los miembros de Mujeres Unidas infectadas o afectados por el VIH la experiencia de ayudar a las mujeres recientemente diagnosticadas a aprender estrategias y comportamientos de salud. Ellas tambien ofrecen educación y asesoria a personas Latinas quienes no han experimentado este proceso aún.

Pláticas

Mujeres Unidas is funded by the Pfizer through the Southern HIV AIDS Prevention Initiative to conduct plátícas in the form of focus groups and small group presentations to Latinas and their families. The focus groups are intended to solicit discussion on how Latino parents can best educate their children/adolescents about HIV, STDs, drugs, abstinence, condoms, and HIV testing. The small group presentations, target Latinas, which addresses a basic understanding of issues pertaining to HIV/AIDS and take place in private homes or other settings and include an incentive offered to the host/hostess and their participants.

Mujeres Unidas esta subsidiada por Hope Action Care (HAC) of San Antonio, Texas and Office on Women’s Health and Human Services (DHHS) para ofrecer platícas enfocadas a grupos en pequeñas presentaciones para personas Latinas y sus familias. Los grupos estan dirijidos a ofrecer información de como los padres Latinos pueden hablar y educar mejor a sus hijos adolescentes acerca de VIH, STDs, drogas, abstinencia, condones, y prueba de anticuerpos de VIH. Las presentaciones pequeñas, cuyo objetivo son las mujeres Latinas, ofrece un entendimiento básico de las consecuencias del VIH/SIDA y se lleva acabo en los hogares e incluye un incentivo ofrecido a la anfitriona y sus participantes.

Project SEEK

Mujeres Unidas is currently collaborating with the Center for Health Care Services on Project SEEK. The focus of this project is to seek out people living with HIV, who experience substance abuse, mental health problems, and or homelessness and have fallen out of medical care services. The primary goal of this project is to enroll these clients back into care .

Proyecto BUSCAR

Mujeres Unidas esta en colaboración con el Center for Health Care Services en el Proyecto BUSCAR (Project SEEK). El enfoque de este es buscar a personas que han sido diagnosticadas con el VIH, que tienen abuso de substancias o problemas de salud mental y han dejado sus servicios de cuidado medico. El objetivo de este programa es que regresen a tratamiento.

Project Hoy en Adelante

Project Hoy en Adelante is a nationwide diabetes prevention program that uses theater-based peer education to reduce diabetes in Latinas ages 18-44, which is funded by the National Latina Health Network. It will train Latino educators to use teatro as a medium to reach Latinas at-risk for diabetes.

Proyecto Hoy en Adelante es un programa nacional de prevención de diabetes basado, en métodos de teatro para reducir el diabetes entre Latinas de 18-44 años de edad. Recibe fondos del National Latina Health Network y entrena educadores Latinos para utilizar teatro como medio de prevencion de diabetes entre Latinas que se encuentran en riesgo.

Project SAY!

Project SAY! is a nationwide HIV prevention program that uses theater-based peer education. Mujeres Unidas has recruited and trained a group of Youth Peer educators (Voices for Choices) whose main goal is to identify different venues for educating Latino Youth at-risk for HIV/AIDS.

Proyecto SAY! es un programa nacional para la prevención de VIH. Este programa utiliza educación basada en teatro. Mujeres Unidas ha entrenado un grupo de educadores jóvenes (Voices for Choices). La meta de este grupo es identificar diferentes medios para educar jóvenes Latinos que corren el riesgo del VIH/SIDA.
